Irish MMA fighter Charlie "The Relentless" Ward was brutally knocked out inside the first round at the hands of English fighter and UFC debutant Galore Bofando.

The 36 year old Portlaoise man is a member of Straight Blast Gym and a team mate of the Notorious Conor McGregor.

Even though the bout did not last long, it was obvious from the start there was gulf in class between the fighters as Bofando kept switching stances from southpaw to orthodox on several occasions.

In what was a strange turn of events in the fight, Ward seemed to be knocked out when Bofando threw him to the ground and his head bounced off the canvass. Bofando jumped on top of his opponent to unleash a flurry of hammer-fist's to Ward's head before the referee called a halt to the contest. The fight was 2 minutes and 10 seconds old.

The ugly defeat for Ward will raise some questions about his future in the UFC with it being his second defeat in a row in very quick circumstances. He was signed signed by the company in 2016 and his only previous fight also resulted in a loss, going down to Abdul Razak Alhassan inside 53 seconds of the first round.
