How does a rookie kicker get in his fan's good books?
A last-second field-goal to beat one of your oldest rivals should do the trick.
That was the situation Philadelphia Eagles kicker Jake Elliott found himself in on Sunday evening against the New York Giants. Divisional rivals, the Eagles and Giants have one of lengthiest rivalries in the NFL.
With the game tied at 24-24, and with just one second on the clock, Eliott scored one of the longest field-goals in the history of the league. Only six players have scored longer field goals.

Elliott was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals earlier this year, but did not make the final squad. He only made his debut for the Eagles last week, after their first-choice kicker Caleb Sturgis suffered an injury in the opening game of the season.
The win moves the Eagles to 2-1 for the season, with the Giants dropping to 0-3. The loss all but ends the Giants' hopes of making the NFL Playoffs this year.
For Elliott, the Eagles have themselves a new hero. Whether he lives up to Barney Gorman in The Garbage Picking Field Goal Kicking Philadelphia Phenomenon remains to be seen.
