Just seven weeks away for Conor McGregor walking into the T-Mobile Arena ring in Las Vegas to face Floyd Mayweather, John Kavanagh has discussed his fighter's preparations for the bout.

Speaking to Andrew McGahon for McGregor's own website The Mac Life, Kavanagh said that he is playing a role in the preparations but it is McGregor's striking coach, Owen Roddy, who has been responsible for putting the Dubliner's game plan together for the fight.

Kavanagh revealed that McGregor is doing a lot more sparring ahead of taking on Mayweather than he would have for an MMA fight.

We're doing four times the amount of sparring for this camp than we would for a regular MMA camp. That's a huge amount of extra rounds.

After each sparring session we do video analysis. Like with everything Conor does, when he gets his mind on something, he's scarily focussed. Yesterday, we were up in his house and he was writing down his notes like it was the old days again. We watch the video, compare notes and then we spar again. Then repeat.

I really feel we've come on leaps on bounds in a very short time. We're only halfway through this camp, we have another mesocycle to go through and then we get out to Vegas. I'm really looking forward to seeing another leap forward.

Kavanagh also spoke about McGregor's visualisation methods for August 26th. When the 28-year-old walks to the ring, Kavanagh feels he will be a mindset where nothing will surprise him.

We'll have done 44 fight nights, before fight night. The 45th time we walk out will seem very normal to us. There won't be anything catching us off guard.

Doing a camp with Conor now, largely because of not having financial restraints, is a joy. I have sleep analysis today that will check what his sleep is like.

It's kind of like a playground. I get to pick and choose whatever I want.
