On the latest edition of The Stand with Eamon Dunphy, the host welcomed his "great friend" John Waters to discuss the upcoming referendum on whether to repeal the 8th amendment of the constitution.

Waters is campaigning for a 'No' vote.

What was planned to be a 40-minute interview, however, lasted just 13 minutes as Waters stormed out of the studio roaring that Dunphy is "a bollocks".

You can listen to the podcast below. It all kicks off around the 12-minute mark.

The interview hit the skids once Dunphy responded by exploring exactly when life begins, with Waters expounding his view that it begins at conception.

ED: Would you not agree that if you want to protect the right to life, and the rights of this child, you have to, in your mind, have some idea of when -

JW: [interrupting] - Eamon, these are extraordinary philosophical questions. For example, the abortion pill. Nobody can know at the time they take an abortion pill whether there is a child there or not. -

ED: - [interrupting] -  I don't..I just want to make clear -

JW: - [interrupting] - These are angels dancing on the head of a pin when there are tanks coming down the main street -

ED: - [interrupting] - You're trying to bully me now. Let me explain. What I'm saying to you, is when people are talking about people buying abortion pills on the internet -

JW: - [interrupting] - This is not about abortion pills.

ED: - [audibly annoyed] I know!

JW: - Look, we have 40 minutes to do an interview. Can we talk about the issue, or else I'm going home. I'm fed up of this.

ED: Ah, don't go.

JW: You told me this would be a fair interview. This isn't a fair interview!

ED: It is a fair interview! I'm on the same side as -

JW: [interrupting] - You're a bollocks! You're a fucking bollocks! You can fuck off Eamon! You told me yesterday that you wanted to support - that you wanted to talk-

ED: I'm against; I'm a No voter!

JW: Ah talk to Una Mullaly! Fuck off!

From there, Eamon said that he is "sad" about what happened, and that his intention was to interview Waters to represent the No side, and Irish Times journalist Una Mullaly to represent the Yes side. The latter interview is available to listen to.
