That was intense. We're still not quite recovered from the nerves of that draw, but we got the one we wanted in Denmark.

It means Ireland are just two games away from the World Cup in Russia next summer, and facing an opponent we'd fancy our chances against.

It won't be easy, but none of them would be. Martin O'Neill, we suspect, is equally delighted but wasn't giving much away after flying all the way over to FIFA Headquarters in Switzerland.

The only reaction O'Neill had to Denmark was his revelation that Danish coach Åge Hareide was his former teammate. The two played together in the early 80s at both Manchester City and Norwich.

While O'Neill did say he was happy with playing at home in the second leg, even that didn't seem to please him too much.

It's clear the Irish manager isn't too keen to give his players any chance for complacency.

What he did admit though is that Ireland have all the momentum coming into these Playoff games, and that is something that will be on our side as we face this mammoth task to get to the World Cup.
