At the end of last year, Mx Holloway emerged to defeat Jose Aldo in a one-sided performance during UFC 218. His strike power proved too much for Aldo and afterward, he stepped forward to receive near-universal acclaim and praise.

One man who wasn't so congratulatory was Conor McGregor, who posted a tweet shortly after the fight to remind Holloway of their 2013 bout.

Since then Holloway has been set to return for UFC 222 but had to pull out of a match-up with Frankie Edgar due to an ankle injury.  Brian Ortega stood in on short notice and won the fight.

Holloway recently appeared on the MMA hour podcast, and is often the case was asked about Conor McGregor:

I'm not going to get into something that is a 'what-if' with someone. I won't focus my energy on something that is not going to happen. I got a crown, I got a throne to defend. We got to keep the 145 division moving. If that guy wants to fight I'll sign a contract. That guy tells Dana what he wants to do and Dana usually does it. If that's how you want to do it, so be it.

The guy kept jabbing at me and jabbing at me and every time I replied it was like "why are you doing this, why are you replying?" Uh, do you guys like getting picked on? Gotta stand up for your damn self. That one time finally he throws a juicy underhand pitch, I take a swing at it and hit it out of the park and everyone is all salty! This guy has been trying to bully me the whole time. Talking about his retired life, all the wild stuff. The one time I attack him you guys get on me. Get out of here with that stuff!

Holloway was not very interested in discussing it any further, with McGregor still seemingly no closer to his return to the octagon.
