He is one of the most impressive managers in international football, but Michael O'Neill says he has no plans to leave Northern Ireland.

The former Shamrock Rovers boss led the side to Euro 2016 last year, and is all but a two-legged play-off away from guiding Northern Ireland to their first World Cup in over 30 years.

Lying second in their group behind World Champions Germany, Northern Ireland guaranteed second place after a convincing 2-0 win over Czech Republic in Windsor Park.

Despite O'Neill's impressive dealings with limited resources, he told Off the Ball he has not been tempted away from the job.

It's something that's continually asked of me.

There has been at times some enquiries to what my situation is. I signed a four-year contract. That hasn't changed.

My focus is purely on trying to get the team to Russia. For this group of players to follow off [Euro 2016] and get to a World Cup would be a magnificent achievement.

For some of them it would be the icing on an international career...

Club football is always mentioned, but for me it's not at the forefront of my mind at the moment.

After leading Shamrock Rovers to the group stages of the Europa League, O'Neill's stock continues to rise with his achievements on the international stage.

Despite his new contract, the ideal time to step away from the team may come next summer should Northern Ireland qualify for Russia 2018.

O'Neill bases himself nowadays in Scotland. It could be his most likely destination once the excellent adventure with Northern Ireland comes to an end.
