Great news for Peter Allis lovers, according to reports, the BBC will announce that they have secured the live rights to all four days of the US PGA Championship.
With more and more live sport departing terrestrial television to subscription based platforms in recent years, this will be seen as a massive accomplishment for the BBC who had in recent years lost their rights to the Grand National and Formula 1.
The BBC tried to agree a deal with the Royal & Ancient that would have seen them broadcast the final two days of The Open Championship live, but they were unable to reach a compromise.
With their budget slashed, many believed that when they lost the rights to The Open 12 months ago that it would be the end of the BBC's live coverage of golf for good.
The legendary Alliss was resigned to the fact that there may never be live golf broadcast on free to air television again.

The opportunity arose for the BBC to reach a multi year deal with the PGA of America because of the apparent breakdown in contract talks with Sky Sports.
A BBC insider told the Telegraph that it was 'too good a deal to pass by.'
