Ireland's Patience Jumbo-Gula set a championship record of 11.59 as she booked her place in tomorrow's 100 m final of the European Athletics U18 Championships in Hungary.

Having won her heat earlier today, Jumbo-Gula was a clear winner in the second of the three semi-final heats. In the same event Gina Akpe-Moses took the silver medal in two years ago in Tbilisi, Jumbo-Gula will be a real contender in tomorrow's final.

Jumbo-Gula's record-breaking 11.59 was surpassed shortly thereafter by Great Britain's Cassie-Ann Pemberton, who ran a wind-aided 11.56.

Earlier this afternoon, Jumbo-Gula spoke after winning her heat; making the claim that "Irish sprinting is the best it has ever been." You can watch that earlier interview below.
