As Everton came to the decision to sack manager Ronald Koeman after the club's 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal on Sunday was the latest poor result in a miserable start to the season, speculation as to who was to replace him began to mount immediately.

David Moyes, Sean Dyche, and even Carlo Ancelotti quickly emerged as front-runners, but on social media a much wider range of names were thrown into the hat.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher's suggestion - a nod to the iconic Andy Tate rants at the end of Moyes' woeful season at Old Trafford - went down particularly well.

A well-played meme from Carragher and a good laugh was had, but it turns out that Giggs does indeed fancy it.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Giggs officially declared himself as interested in both the Everton and Leicester City vacant manager's positions.

I think you look at those two teams, Leicester being champions two seasons ago, Everton being a fantastic club with a fantastic history, for me these are clubs I would be interested in.

However, there are a lot of coaches out there who would be interested in those positions.

I've said all along that I'd be open to clubs which share the ambitions of myself. I want to improve clubs and improve players, to enjoy working for them and for players to enjoy the challenge.

There are clubs in the Premier League which would be good jobs but also in the Championship and League One. It's more about the philosophy for me than the stature of the club.

Obviously, it could well be that Giggs is not even on Everton's radar, and the bookies currently have him as long as 25/1 to be the appointment made by Everton, but the Welshman is clearly keen to get involved in management and as he is being careful regarding when and where might land, it is only a matter of time before someone gives him a chance it seems.

Everton are likely to opt for someone with more experience, but Giggsy wants it, and not on a "technicaliteh".
