The HNA Open de France got underway on Thursday and it's been a good day for Englishmen Nathan Kimsey and Tommy Fleetwood who posted scores of -5 and -4 respectively to have themselves right in contention after round one.

For the Irish interest, Paul Dunne at -1 and Graeme McDowell at -2 have been going well, but the real highlight of the day came when a surreal moment involving a fan was captured by the TV camera crews.

One woman spotted what she believed to be a discarded golf club in a water hazard, and rather than wait for the coast to clear somewhat, she decided to make a go for it with professional golfers, other spectators, and the TV crews all watching on.

After rolling up her shorts and wading out into the swampy water hazard, she realised that it was a broken club that someone had thrown into the water hazard in a fit of rage, and had to slowly wade her way back out to dry land.

The commentary too was highly enjoyable.

She took a chance, but it seemed as though she was one of the only people around who believed it to be a perfectly intact golf club sitting in the water. Still, we all have one friend who would absolutely roll the trousers up and get messy if it meant coming away with a new piece of kit.
