Day one of the Paralympics is upon us after the opening ceremony took place in Rio on Wednesday night.

Ireland will have 48 competitors at the Games with one of our main medal hopes, sprinter Jason Smyth, on the track late tonight.

These are the Irish Paralympians in action today.

Ailbhe Kelly - Swimming

S8 400m FS Heats at 14.01

If Ailbhe qualifies for the final, it takes place at 21:54 tonight.

S5 200m FS Heats at 15:31
