You couldn't blame Neville Maxwell for being emotional as Paul and Gary O'Donovan captured Ireland's first ever medal in rowing, and a first medal for the country at this summer's Games.
The Skibbereen brothers have captured the hearts of a nation with their quick-witted, piss-taking post-race interviews which have quote unquote "shpiralled on the interweb", and they fended off Norway to get over the line in second place.
Following the pulsating finish, an emotional Maxwell spoke passionately about what the brothers' achievement meant to the sport of rowing in Ireland, as Joanne Cantwell indicated that he possibly lost the run of himself towards the end - as did the rest of the country.
