Idris Elba - the man who will forever be known to most of us as Stringer Bell - made his professional kickboxing debut at York Hall in London this weekend.

Elba is starring in three-part Discovery Channel documentary titled 'Idris Elba: Fighter' in which he travels the globe attempting to pick up the skills required to become a kickboxer.

Footage of the fight, which was part of the series, was captured by that well-known kickboxing aficionado Madonna. According to The Mirror, Elba won the bout.

Elba's time spent training would appear to have been well-spent. At the very least, the 44-year-old has a solid right hand.

The documentary was shot in the UK, Cuba, Japan, South Africa and Thailand and is expected to premiere early next year.
