Tesco Ireland today announced a new partnership with Swim Ireland which will support swimming at all levels.
Swim Ireland is the governing body for swimming, water polo and diving.
Through the sponsorship, Tesco will endeavour to increase participation in swimming throughout the county. It will do so through a number of initiatives, some already existing such as Get Ireland Swimming and Swim For A Mile but also new ones like National Swimming Day.
At the heart of the deal is an aim to help people achieve greater health and well-being through swimming.
It will also support our elite athletes on the international stage. Later this summer, at the FINA World Aquatics Championships in South Korea, a 13 strong team comprised of ten swimmers and three divers, will compete for Ireland.
The competition will also be their first opportunity to qualify for next year's Olympic Games in Tokyo.
