Jamie Carragher has been called out for his comments about Martin Odegaard celebrating Arsenal's 3-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

The victory was a massive one, as it moved the Gunners to within two points of the Merseysiders at the top of the Premier League table, and Odegaard made sure to milk the moment afterwards, along with 60,000 home supporters.

The Norwegian's glee was captured by the Sky Sports cameras, as he messed about with a camera of his own, borrowed from Arsenal's photographer Stuart MacFarlane.

As Odegaard was seen taking pictures of his pal, Carragher made his feelings known about what he saw as an over-celebration.

"Just get down the tunnel," said the ex-Liverpool man. "You've won a game, three points, you've been brilliant, back in the title race, get down the tunnel. I'm serious, honestly."

Carragher later shared a clip of his own comments, and included a phrase made famous by Neil Warnock in the caption: 'By all means enjoy it, but enjoy it by being disciplined!'

The Warnock reference was lost on Odegaard's Jan Aage Fjortoft though, who took Carragher to task over what he saw as a slight on his fellow Norwegian.

"Come on @Carra23," quoted the Viaplay reporter. "Let Martin show his passion! Also on the pitch, let him have this moment with his mates at @Arsenal like @Stuart_PhotoAFC.

"Nothing to do with being disciplined or not. Football could do with more people express their love for the game I know you deep inside agree with me, mate."

Carragher then hit back and was particularly annoyed at Fjortoft's tag-happy tweet, which he saw as fishing for interactions.

"Jan, it’s a joke about a Neil Warnock quote, FFS!" he wrote. "I like the way you’ve tagged them all in including the camera man so you get the retweets & likes you want.

"I thought the camera stuff was a bit OTT, a bit like your claim that Mo Salah would leave Liverpool!"

Fjortoft had stated last summer that Salah would be leaving Anfield, a claim that Carragher clearly hasn't forgotten.

For his own part, Warnock, who was appointed as interim Aberdeen manager on Monday, chimed in to back Carragher, stating: "Love listening to your opinions Carra, but get your own catchphrase!"

Carragher was clearly upset at the team he supports losing a huge game in the title race but there's a long way to go in this Premier League season yet.
