Footage doing the rounds on social media over the last 24 hours has shown how Jamie Carragher was involved in a feisty exchange with a Nottingham Forest fan at the weekend, appearing to snatch a phone from the spectators hands after the exchanged words.

The Sky Sports pundit was at The City Ground last Sunday for the club's game against Spurs. A video released on Twitter shows Carragher reacting angrily to a fan goading him as he walked down the stand.

The Forest fans can be heard calling Jamie Carragher a "Scouse B****** " while another fan puts a phone in his face as he attempts to walk through the stands.

Back in 2018, a fan driving alongside Carragher, filmed himself jeering Carragher over a Liverpool defeat. The pundit then rolled his window down and spat at the car, landing on the driver's young daughter who was sitting in the passenger seat.

Sky Sports temporarily suspended Carragher after the event.

Jamie Carragher on the altercation

This altercation is obviously nowhere near as serious as the spitting event and Carragher played down the incident when approached by The Mirror for a comment.

Carragher said:

I was being escorted from one part of The City Ground to another, past some vocal fans with plenty of heckling. For me, no harm was intended from either side.

It certainly seems that the fan involved did overstep the mark on this occasion, filming the pundit and shouting abuse at him from a close distance.

As for Carragher, his reaction was understandable but he probably wishes he handled the incident a little bit differently.
