Darwin Nunez was sent off in 57th minute during Liverpool's draw with Crystal Palace, for the outrageously stupid act of sticking his head into the jaw Palace's Joachim Anderson.

Anderson had riled Nunez up with an off the ball shove, before the Uruguayan turned back and aggressively shoved his head the way of Anderson, who went down while theatrically clutching his face.

The defender did make the most of the incident, as every professional footballer would, but it was entirely the fault of Nunez and a deserved red card.

Referee Paul Tierney wasted nearly no time in showing the card either, and was swift with his justice towards Liverpool's record signing.

Nunez then continued his thoughtless actions by complaining to Tierney and walking petulantly and slowly off the pitch while Liverpool were still a goal down.

As he walked to the sideline, he barely glanced at a clearly livid Jurgen Klopp. What was a fantastic Premier League debut against Fulham last week has been undone by a fabulous act of stupidity tonight.

Thankfully for Nunez, his blushes were somewhat saved by a spectacular goal from Liverpool's magnificent Colombian Luis Diaz, after 61 minutes.

During the week, Jurgen Klopp and spoken highly of Darwin Nunez in an interview with Sky Sports.

"Imagine if somebody did that to us and said, 'First day of work, it didn't work out. Go home, we never want to see you again! And you don't get a second chance by the way' - we would have all been long gone! No chance.

"Everybody can now see, 'Ah he's a proper striker' - so good for us and good for him. He's a handful and is a different type to what we had. He's very lively and very energetic. Physically he's really strong and technically he's really good, that obviously goes together with being more settled and confident and more secure in yourself in a new environment."
