It's being reported that Newcastle have agreed a deal worth around €70 million for Swedish striker Alexander Isak. The highly rated 22-year-old had been linked with some of Europe's elite over the summer, but it appears that St. James' Park is going to be his next destination.

The Athletic are reporting that Isak will become the Magpies' fourth signing of the summer after completing deals for Sven Botman, Nick Pope and Matt Targett and he will be the club's record signing.

Alexander Isak Newcastle: Who is he?

Alexander Isak moved to Real Sociedad from Borussia Dortmund back in 2019 and has scored 33 times in 105 appearances in La Liga.

The Swedish international had been linked with a move to Arsenal prior to the Gunners pursuing Gabriel Jesus. Isak has been capped for his country 37 times already, scoring 9 times.

Standing at 6 foot 3 inches, he will prove to be a handful for many Premier League sides. Isak scored just six times during Real Sociedad's campaign last season, which saw them finish in sixth place. The year before, Isak had a prolific season, netting 17 league goals, averaging a goal every other game.

Fabrizio Romano has also stated that personal terms have been agreed between Isak and Newcastle United.

Newcastle have enjoyed a decent start to the 2022/23 season and are sitting in sixth place after two draws and one win from their opening three games.

Since the Saudi state backed takeover at the end of 2021, Newcastle haven't broke the bank on individual players, with Eddie Howe building slowly due to financial fair play regulations, but the signing of Isak is undoubtedly going to excite fans in the North East of England.

After an entertaining 3-3 draw against the reigning Premier League champions Manchester City last weekend, Newcastle will likely have their sights set on European football and the signing of Alexander Isak will only help their cause.
