It's looking ever more likely as the day goes on that it will be Graham Potter that is named as the new Chelsea manager. After Thomas Tuchel was sacked this morning, Chelsea approached Brighton for permission to talk to their manager.

One name that has been mentioned by beIN Sports presenter Richard Keys is, Chelsea Women's manager Emma Hayes. The 45-year-old has been the manager of the Blues Women's Super League side since 2012, leading them to five titles and four FA Cups during her decade in charge.

Keys said on Twitter today that Emma Hayes should be considered as the new manager of Chelsea.

Emma Hayes' previous job offers

It's not the first time that Hayes has been linked to a job in the men's side of the game. Back in 2021, Hayes was linked with the managerial post at AFC Wimbledon, who were promoted to League 2 at the end of last season.

The Chelsea WSL manager rejected the approach and said that she would be looking at managing at a higher level than the non-league scene.

Hayes said:

Women’s football is something to celebrate, and the quality and the achievement of all the females I represent,

It’s an insult to them that we talk about women’s football being a step down, with the dedication and the commitment and the quality they have.

I am the manager of Chelsea. I manage and represent elite, world-class players and this for me is an amazing job. I’ve spent the last nine years cultivating all my energy into it.

Not many people would have expected the call for Emma Hayes to become the new Chelsea manager to stem from Richard Keys, but it's understandable to see where the presenter is coming from due to her oustanding success in the women's game.
