Roy Keane believes the situation is "not looking good" for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.

The club sit 15th in the Premier League following Sunday's 1-0 defeat to Arsenal at Old Trafford.

"There's been ups and downs for Ole in his spell here," said Keane.

"Last year, they finished the season strongly, got to three semi-finals but that's no good enough for Manchester United. We were building this season up to be almost make or break for Ole and at this moment in time, it's not looking good for him."

For Keane, the blame for United's performances falls with the players, not the manager.

"We spoke before the game about being on the front foot, being aggressive - you're home team - but they were none of those things," he said.

"On top of that, there was a lack of energy, enthusiasm and a real lack of quality. That really concerned me in the second half when they were getting into half-decent positions.

"Some of the performances were really poor. Ole will be scratching his head. After the Spurs game, we were asking if they'd turned a corner - it's the longest corner ever.

"I'm just not convinced with these players. We always talk about characters at Manchester United. I just didn't see enough of them today.

"I looked at Rashford closely today, he's had a load of plaudits over the last few months - I know he's still a young man - but his body language today was shocking. He was shrugging his shoulders when things weren't going his way. You need to pull your sleeves up at Man Utd when things aren't going your way.

"I don't see any leaders out there right through the whole team. It's a real worry for United.

"You're playing at Manchester United because you're expected to break these teams down, you're expected to run back, roll your sleeves up.

"That's what characters at Manchester United are about. We spoke about Nobby Stiles before the game, 5' 6", heart of a lion. I don't see it out there. I don't see men out there. I don't see guys you want to be in the trenches with, guys you trust.

"I look at Ole in management, and you have to trust your players - your job depends on these guys out on the pitch. You have to trust them lads out there? God help us."
