Darwin Nunez has had quite the eventful start to life in the Premier League. Nunez scored off the bench in his first two competitive games for Liverpool, but last night, the Uruguayan was given his marching orders for headbutting Joachim Andersen.

Andersen had handled the striker well throughout the game before Nunez lost his head on the hour mark and was shown a straight red card by Paul Tierney.

After watching the incident, it's hard to disagree with Tierney's decision to send him off, but former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann was one of the few who felt that Darwin Nunez should not have seen red.

Speaking on talkSPORT this morning, Hamann said "I think Nunez just walked into him".

Hamann said:

I think he just walked into him. It wasn't even a headbutt, I think he just walked into the defender into Andersen. if it's a proper headbutt I can understand to extend the ban but he just walked into him.

Presenter Laura Woods can be seen visibly laughing and almost cringing at Didi's take, as she asks him if he's sure that he just walked into him.

Hamann replies by saying:

When I first saw it in real time I thought the defender maybe made a little bit more than it was, but obviously afterwards you saw that, I think he hit him on the chin. But yeah I'm not sure if there's extensive force with his head, I think he just walked into him. Yeah he shouldn't do it, of course he let himself down, let his team down, didn't help Liverpool even though after he was sent off they started playing better than with him.

Specsavers reply to Hamann's view on Darwin Nunez

After talkSport tweeted the clip of Didi Hamann, Specsavers had the perfect reply to the German.

Hamann usually talks quite a lot of sense when asked his opinion on certain subjects, but this view on Darwin Nunez's headbutt is baffling. Specsavers' reply to the tweet is definitely what was needed to capture everybody else's view on the red card.
