The battle we've been waiting for.

Liverpool run out fairly comfortable 3-1 winners over Arsenal tonight, putting in the type of performance we have come to expect from the Premier League champions.

They dominated proceedings, but they did grant a couple of opportunities to the visitors. That includes the opening goal of the game, with Andy Robertson making a bad error to allow Alexandre Lacazette to score.

The Frenchman had another opportunity in the second half, with Roy Keane claiming after the game that Liverpool looked 'sloppy' during these moments.

Jurgen Klopp was on standby at Anfield waiting to speak to the Sky Sports studio, and he immediately took aim at Keane's description of his team's performance.

Did I hear it right, that Mr Keane said we had a sloppy performance tonight? I could hear you already, did he say that?

This was a sloppy performance tonight? Im not sure if I heard it right. It must be another game, because it cannot be this game, sorry.

That's an incredible description of this game. Nothing was sloppy, absolutely nothing. It was from the first second dominant against a team is in form, 100 per cent in form.

You had to be careful like hell with the counterattacks. I think 60 or 70 per cent of all the balls in behind were offside, and you waited for the flag meanwhile. That's why it feels not great, but it was offside.

Alisson had to make one save, they had two balls in behind. You cannot avoid that, you need a goalie in these situations.

Apart from that, the football we played was absolutely exceptional tonight. That doesn't help for Thursday or any other game, but for this game tonight there was absolutely nothing bad to say.

Keane had a typical reply once the interview had finished, cheekily saying: "Very sensitive, isn't he? Imagine he had lost."

Klopp perhaps heard Keane's comments out of context, but it's certainly interesting to see he was ready to go to bat for his team this evening.

This result mean Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table, behind Leicester City on goal difference. They will face Arsenal once again on Thursday in the Carabao Cup.
