Canterbury have released the new Irish alternate kit for the 2016/17 season.

The kit is certainly different from previous years. It's purple, somewhat akin to the ones worn by England during the 2012/13 season - though a touch darker.

Canterbury say it is influenced by the heritage of Irish rugby.

The new alternate kit focuses on the heritage surrounding Irish rugby. Taking inspiration from Lansdowne Road, the oldest rugby ground in the world and the historical home of the IRFU, 4 gold bar tacks link to the embroidery on the original Lansdowne Caps.

It's likely to be worn during the upcoming November internationals, perhaps against Australia due to the lighter colour of their kit.
