Pascal Pape has been banned for 10 weeks following the incident that lead to a Jamie Heaslip injury in last week's Six Nations match last Saturday.

The incident occurred in the 51st minute of the Irish victory over France, where Pape appeared to strike Heaslip in the back with his knee as Heaslip attempted to hold up a French ball carrier for a choke tackle.

After the original meeting was adjourned overnight, a 10 week ban has now been handed down. It's unusual for a disciplinary committee to delay their decision so long, and the debate appears to surround whether the clash was intentional or not. Pape will now miss the rest of the Six Nations

Heaslip sustained three cracked vertebrae in the clash, and is likely to be out for up to four weeks according to the IRFU.

France will have to prepare for their clash with Wales next weekend without the lock.
