Irish rugby fans and Joe Schmidt will be delighted to hear that Johnny Sexton got through 66 minutes for his club Racing Metro last night. Still sporting a the evidence of his clashes with Mathieu Bastareaud. Getting through the game with no additional injuries and more gametime under his belt will only be good for Sexton with England, Wales and Scotland to come for Ireland.

It was an eventful game for Sexton who had an up and down game. For those who wonder what happens if players take too long over kicks, the answer was given in this game as Sexton was penalised for taking longer than the allotted 90 seconds. He's unlikely to make that mistake again any time soon, which is a bit of a silver lining for Ireland.

Sexton nailed his other two penalties in a tight game, and it was a fortuitous bounce from his crossfield kick that set up Racing's only try.
