By PJ Browne Updated

Munster ran in eight tries live on TG4 in their first game of the season at Thomond Park. The Cheetahs were the victims as Munster dished out a 51-18 hammering.

Winger Alex Wootton - who would leave the pitch to an ovation from the crowd - scored four of his side's tries.

His first, Munster's second try of the game, came after 20 minutes.

His second arrived 15 minutes later.

The 23-year-old's third try was the pick of the bunch. He showed excellent pace as he latched onto a grubber kick from Duncan Williams.

Wootton touched down for his fourth try after 61 minutes. It came via a superb pass from Darren Sweetnam.
