Ireland recorded a long-awaited series win in Australia this afternoon with a 20-16 defeat of the Wallabies in Sydney. Unbeknownst to those watching the tie in Ireland however, an Australian commentator has got into some hot water for his bizarre comments about a group of Irish players.

Shortly into the second-half, with Ireland leading 17-9, Phil Kearns, a former World Cup winner with Australia, focused his attention on a group of Irish players discussing some element of the match with one another before a scrum.

Frustrated with the amount of time the players in question were taking, Kearns reached for the nearest cliche he could find; "Fiddly dee, fiddly dee, fiddly dee, potato - out the back there having their own little chat."

Needless to say, Kearns' remarks did not go unnoticed.

A bizarre, somewhat offensive remark from the former Wallaby, it would appear that he has some form for such comments.
