In the autumn of 2003, a 24-year-old Brian O'Driscoll was in Australia for Rugby World Cup. Of course, Ireland exited as per usual at the quarter-final stage. Freddie Michalak and Co. were the executioners on that occasion.

Also in Oz around that time was another Brian O'Driscoll - or at least that's what he said his name was.

On Instagram last night, BOD posted an image from his effort at BT Sport's 'SmashMeter'. In the comments, a user named galeforcerob13 told a story from back in 2003.

While in an Australian bar, the O'Driscoll impersonator told 'an Aussie chick' that he was the Irish rugby international.

The ruse worked, briefly, with the two getting close. That was until some Irish lads nearby unraveled his story.

His deception got the approval of the real BOD.

Though, he did pay a price.
