Scotland and France are both down to 14 men after barely ten minutes of their Six Nations encounter at the Stade de France this afternoon.

Grant Gilchrist was the first to be shown a red card by referee Nika Amashukeli after shoulder to head contact with France's on Anthony Jelonch.

With little bend from Jeloch, and a poor wrap from Gilchrist, there was no room for mitigation, leaving the ref with little choice.

France had already been enjoying a 7-0 lead prior to the card and increased it to 12 soon after the red.

Mohamed Haouas was then sent off for tackling Scotland's Ben White at a ruck and making shoulder contact with the scrumalf's head.

Again, Amashukeli had not choice but to give Haouas his marching orders.

It is currently half-time in Paris, with France leading 22-7.

Before the game, Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend said that his side had to 'match' the French. While he was talking about their general play, both sides have certainly matched each other in terms of cards.

"It’s going to be a tough challenge – but we can match that challenge. We can improve from the Wales game. The players can drive that. Going into a game like this on the back of two wins is a much better feeling than if you had a couple of defeats.

"Every game feels massive.

"It’s exciting going to Paris when we’re in the mix for the tournament. But there’s only been two games played. We know we have to improve again this week to still be in the mix going into the last two games.”
