As we're all painfully aware, Ireland's chances of claiming the Women's Rugby World Cup are over after a devastating 7-40 loss to England in Paris.

Things started so well for Ireland when Tania Rosser touched down for a try on 16 minutes after a strong Irish maul. With Niamh Briggs adding the conversion it looked as if things may be set up for another historic day but unfortunately, that was as good as it got.

England took control from there and this defeat will love long in the memory for all the wrong reasons. Having said that, the victory over New Zealand will always be looked back on fondly. And while Canada or France still await in the 3rd/4th place play-off on Sunday, it's not too much of a stretch to say that the girls have left us all incredibly proud thanks to their exploits over the past couple of weeks.
