Plenty might disagree with him but George Hook certainly didn't hold back in his effusive praise of the merits of rugby in comparison to other sports in the aftermath of Ireland's win over Australia.

What makes rugby the greatest game on earth is that unlike gaelic football or soccer or hockey or American football, at the end of it it, it relies on the courage, character and commitment of men.

Excellent alliteration George, but we'd imagine there's a lot of gaelic footballers and female rugby players in particular who won't exactly agree with you.
