In the opening round of fixtures, a youthful Munster side ran out of steam in Cardiff, with the Welsh side running out 20-13 winners. In what was always going to be a difficult fixture, Munster lead 13-12 with 17 minutes to go through a Jack O’Sullivan try, but a penalty and converted try for Cardiff secured the victory for the Welsh side. It was a reminder that the process to transform this side into trophy contenders will take time. What will concern Rowntree is the way they conceded the tries, with 42 missed tackles.

For the Dragons, it could be another long season, after a heavy defeat to Edinburgh, they will be out to make this a difficult game for Munster. After only 2 wins last season, they will aim to give a better account of themselves this season and work their way up the league table.
