Match Preview

Ulster had a historic victory away in Clermont on Saturday to get their Champions Cup campaign off to the perfect start. Tries from Stuart McCloskey and Nick Timoney and 5 penalties from the boot of John Cooney gave Ulster the win. The match also saw the first glimpses of Duane Vermuelen in and Ulster jersey. The Springbok was very impressive considering he had only one training session with the squad before the match.

Iain Henderson returns to the starting lineup to captain Ulster. Marty Moore also returns to start at tighthead while Duane Vermuelen gets a chance to start his first match in Ravenhill.

Northampton were hammered at home last Friday when Finn Russell and Racing 92 ran riot in Franklin Gardens, wining 45-14. It was a disappointing evening for all involved with Northampton but they'll want to keep their Champions Cup hopes alive with a big win away in Ulster.

Dan Biggar limped off against Racing and won't be playing in Belfast as George Furbank comes in to start at 10. Fullback Ahsee Tuala starts his first game of the season as six changes are made from their loss to Racing.
