Nigel Owens once told us that referees rarely ever take in the quality of the match or the occasion given that they're so focused on keeping their own house in order.

However Craig Joubert was well aware of the noise of the Irish fans today, especially in the minutes after the crowd was informed that they'd broken the attendance record for a World Cup match.

With 53 minutes gone, Romania were taking their sweet-ass time over throwing into a line-out on their own five-metre line. Joubert was very understanding though. He told Donnacha Ryan 'This is a hell of a noise. I've got sympathy for them.'
