Ireland Rugby team's route to the final
In order for Ireland to lift the 2023 Rugby World Cup for the first time, they will either have to top their group or finish second to progress to the knockout stages.
Should Ireland finish first or second in Group B, they will likely meet either France or New Zealand in their quarter-final match.
Only Scotland can now stop Ireland from clinching a place in the quarterfinals. To do so, Scotland requires bonus point wins against Tonga and Romania as well as beating Ireland by 8 points or more.
Should Ireland, South Africa and Scotland finish on the same points, points difference will decide the top two places.
France's convincing win over the All Blacks, coupled with Ireland's impressive win over South Africa means that should Ireland beat Scotland in their final pool game, or lose by less than 8, they'll play New Zealand in the quarterfinal.
Ireland's Quarter-final permutations and venues
If Ireland tops Group B they will play the runner-up of Group A, likely New Zealand. on Saturday, October 14th at 8pm in the Stade De France.
If Ireland fails to top the group and finishes second in their group, they will play the winners of Group A, likely France, on Sunday, October 15th at 8pm in the Stade De France.
Ireland's game against South Africa on Sept 23 will be pivotal in deciding whether Ireland play either France or New Zealand.
