There have been some freak injuries around lately, but this one could take the biscuit.

After a run of 16 games in a row, Connacht finally had a weekend off as the Six Nations came into focus. For the non-internationals in Ireland, that meant a small break - with some taking a well earned holiday.

For Jack Carty, a trip to Dubai was meant to be relaxing, but it could cost him up to three months out through injury. A freak injury on a water slide ruptured Carty's spleen, and he's had to have the spleen removed in Dubai. His surgery was successful, but Connacht say that the 23-year-old out-half will spend another week in hospital before being well enough to fly home.

He is expected to be out for 1-3 months. It's a blow to the western provinces in their quest for a playoff place - and they will now have to rely on AJ McGinty and Craig Ronaldson to fill the 10 jersey.
