Reports have come in that Leinster and Ireland captain Johnny Sexton has been hit with a misconduct letter from the EPCR, following his behaviour after Leinster's Champions Cup final loss to La Rochelle.

The incident in question saw Johnny Sexton, who was not playing, approach referee Jaco Peyper and his officials on the pitch before allegedly mouthing obscenities towards them.

In an exclusive for City AM, Matt Hardy revealed 'that the officials were asked for witness statements, with at least one of them describing Sexton’s behaviour as intimidating.'

The EPCR released a statement after the game, saying that 'they will be investigating this as soon as practicable', and this latest twist puts Sexton's World Cup in jeopardy.

With the tournament starting in early September, Ireland's talismanic outhalf could at least miss one or two of his side's August warm-up matches.
