Keith Earls hung up his boots after the World Cup with 101 Ireland caps to his name. Johnny Sexton did the same with 119 Ireland caps and six for the British & Irish Lions.

As Earls pointed out on his Instagram AMA earlier, it's tough going finding a routine when you have been told what to eat, do, and where to go for near 15 years.

But both him and Sexton seem to be set up quite well for the future. Earls with his Eleven14 Coffee business, and Sexton with Ardagh company.

Today, however, both men were enjoying their rugby retirement in very different ways.

Earls was out playing football with his old teammate Barry Murphy, while Sexton was in Dubai playing the DP World Tour Championship Pro-Am alongside the Race to Dubai champion Rory McIlroy.

Bernard Jackman was also over at a live event in Dubai during the week, where he interviewed Sexton.

"The game of rugby has given me so much and I feel privileged to have represented my home province Munster, and Ireland, over the course of my career," Earls said in his recent retirement statement.

“Playing for Munster has given me some of the greatest days of my life. The victories, the heartaches, the camaraderie and the friendships with so many players, coaches and support staff over the years has positively impacted my life more than you will ever know.

Sexton also issued an emotional goodbye message of his own:

"Retirement is never an easy next step for any professional athlete. It is especially hard after the rollercoaster of emotions from the last few weeks in France.

“I’ve said it many times before but there’s no feeling like playing in front of a home Irish crowd and that’s what it felt like in Bordeaux, Nantes and in Paris on those three special Saturdays.

“I want to thank my teammates, both for Leinster and Ireland, for everything they have given to me. The last season was one of the most enjoyable of my career and it makes it even more special to do so with people you care about, friends who will stay a part of my life in the future."
