Leinster are planning tributes to remember young fan Liam Hagan, who passed away this week. He was just eight years old.
Liam, originally from Monaghan, passed away earlier this week having battled epidermolysis bullosa (RB), a rare genetic disease that causes skin, both inside and out, to blister at the slightest touch. Liam's was a severe form of EB, leaving 80% of his body covered in open wounds.
A huge Leinster fan, Liam was set to lead out his Leinster heroes this weekend against Connacht. Sadly, that now won't happen.
In his memory, Liam's cousin and best friend Adam McCormic, also from Monaghan, will lead the team out in his memory. Leinster have asked all supporters to acknowledge Liam and his courageous fight at the game. Liam's family will be at the game as guests of Leinster Rugby.
Earlier today, Sean O'Brien commented on Liam's passing:
Liam is the toughest little guy we have ever come across and it is very sad that he won’t be with us on Saturday but we will make sure that Adam has a great day and we will remember Liam and our thoughts are with his family.
Debra Ireland provide patient support services and drive research into treatments and cures for those living with EB, and they will be handing out butterfly tattoos at the game on Saturday, and are asking supporters to wear the butterfly in a show of support for Liam and other families fighting EB.
Sky Sports will scan the crowd at half-time, and will pick out one lucky supporter wearing said tattoo, who will win two Leinster Rugby season tickets for next season as well as other spot prizes on the night.
Debra Ireland are Leinster's Charity of the Year, and Liam was chosen as mascot for this weekend's game as a result.

This is EB Awareness Week and Liam, being a rugby nut despite the pain he felt every time he touched a ball, was the obvious choice as mascot for Saturday’s match.
