It's tradition at this stage. Whenever there is a controversial call at the highest level in rugby - which seems like a weekly occurrence at this stage - we wait with bated breath to hear the opinion of Nigel Owens.

The talk following New Zealand's dramatic late victory over Australia on Thursday, was dominated by the decision of referee Mathieu Raynal to penalise Bernard Foley for time wasting, as the outhalf was about to kick a penalty down the line.

It is a call that is not often seen or implemented, and thus there were incredulous cries wrongdoing from Wallaby fans, and criticism from a lot of the rugby world.

However, due to the lateness in the game and the fact that Raynal issued clear cut warnings to Foley, many were in agreement with the French referee.

Nigel Owens was one of these, and in a tweet he stated his opinion on the call: "As so many of you have been in touch to ask. Clear communication and warning to the player to get on with it. A fair and strong refereeing call my Raynal I feel. Learning here is not for the referee, but the players to get on with it when ref asks."

A new angle from the match also shows clearly the lack of urgency from the Aussie team to play, and an apparent ignorance of Raynal's clear and distinct calls.

Some of Foley's teammates did understand the urgency of the matter, and can be seen in other angles to be screaming and waving their arms frantically at their no. 10, urging him to kick the ball.
