It may have only been six years ago when All Black legend Dan Carter spent six months with Perpignan, but it feels like longer. The former French giants are now languishing in Pro D2 having been relegated from the Top 14 last season.

So fans of the Basque club could be forgiven when the official USAP app from the club sent out this exciting message:

perpignan beauden barrett

The Beauden Barrett? As in the Beauden Barrett who starred for the New Zealand, and scored in the World Cup final? Surely not.

Apparently it was too good to be true for Perpignan and their fans, with club president François Rivière revealing the truth: Barrett hasn't been signed. Apparently the announcement was "spam". From the official club app? That's quite a mistake for someone to make.
