Michael Corcoran raised this issue on Twitter this morning, and I still haven't found any answer why we only played the first forty seconds of the Italian national anthem on Saturday afternoon. It seems like a slap in the face to Italian nationalism. The clip below from the 2010 World Cup shows there's almost another minute to the song. Imagine if France cut off Amhrán na bhFiann before 'Anocht a théam sa bhearna baoil/ Le gean ar Ghaeil, chun báis nó saoil/ Le gunna scréach faoi lámhach na bpiléar/ Seo libh canaig amhrán na bhfiann'? We'd be raging.
