New Zealand wing Ruby Tui gave one of the best post-match interviews of recent years on an emotional day, as the Black Ferns won the World Cup for a sixth time in front of a home crowd in Auckland.

The final was watched by a crowd of 42,579 at Eden Park - the biggest ever crowd for a women's rugby match.

The supporters were treated to an all-time classic, as a late New Zealand try broke the hearts of England, who played most of the game with 14 players after an early red card for Lydia Thompson.

It was a hugely emotional day for New Zealanders in the crowd, and a seminal moment for women's rugby. Ruby Tui perfectly summed up the weight of the occasion with an inspiring and heartwarming post-match interview.

Ruby Tui: "They said nobody cared about women's rugby, well guess what - we're going nowhere!"

The energy in Eden Park was off the charts after New Zealand won the World Cup in a 34-31 classic against England.

With so many fans in Auckland for the final, it felt like a gamechanging moment for women's rugby. The decision to host the match in a stadium of Eden Park's scale paid off, as the atmosphere helped New Zealand to a memorable win.

After the match, Ruby Tui was interviewed, and the answers were broadcast to the near-43,000 crowd in the stadium.

It was a remarkable interview, and one which proved the power of having a packed out Eden Park for the Black Ferns.

Tui praised the crowd for their role in New Zealand's win, and spoke about the power of the occasion for women's rugby.

How was that New Zealand?! How was that?!

I'm just so proud to be a New Zealander right now. They said nobody cared about women's rugby - well guess what? We are here - we're going nowhere!

Thank you for letting us be here, for letting us have our presence here. They said we couldn't do it, they said we wouldn't. We did it, and honestly it took all of us.

Anyone out there defended an England maul before? It ain't easy, especially in the last minute, baby!

We all did it together, New Zealand was a part of that. I'm so proud to be here right now.

We can't remember a better post-match interview in recent years, with Tui perfectly summing up the weight of New Zealand's achievement, and paying tribute to the home support.

She then led the crowd in song, in a tear-jerking moment at the end of a classic World Cup final.

Ruby Tui then spent significant time walking around the pitch and taking photos with young fans, in a wholesome end to the biggest occasion in women's rugby.

It was a truly special day for Ruby Tui and New Zealand - and, as she made clear in her post-match interview, for women's rugby.
