Connacht began the defence of their PRO12 title against Glasgow at the Sportsground on Saturday evening.

The visitors took an 8-0 first half lead through a try from Tommy Seymour and a penalty from Henry Pyrgos.

Starting at out-half for Connacht was jack Carty. 29 minutes into the game, the 24-year-old was hit with a nasty tackle by Glasgow number 8 Ryan Wilson.

After receiving a pass from scrum-half Caolin Blade, Carty passed inside only to then be taken out by Ryan Wilson with a dangerously low and late hit.

It took nearly three minutes of deliberating for referee Ian Davies to deem the tackle worthy of just a yellow card.

Those watching, in the Scottish media, thought Wilson extremely lucky not to have been sent off.

Also lucky was Jack Carty, despite the tackle appearing to contort his leg into an awkward position, he was able to continue.
