Sale Sharks have released a statement claiming there is 'no substance' to yesterday's reports that the club are set to sign Irish out-half Paddy Jackson and centre Stuart Olding.

A club statement confirmed they were in the market for players but denied the rumours around the pair.

Sale Sharks can confirm there is no substance to the rumours currently circulating in relation to the signing of the two international rugby players Paddy Jackson and Stuart Olding. Our search continues for top class players to bolster the squad for next season.

Initial reports in a UK newspaper yesterday suggested Jackson was on the cusp of a bargain contract worth less than £200,000 with Sale, with similar expected for Olding.

The pair had their contracts revoked by Ulster Rugby last month and have been linked to several clubs since then. Both Clermont and Exeter Chiefs also put out statements denying rumours they were interested in signing Jackson and Olding respectively.
