For the second consecutive tour, Sam Warburton will captain the Lions. The Welsh back row led Warren Gatland's team four years ago for the 2-1 series win against Australia. He will do so again this summer against the All Blacks.

Following today's squad announcement, Warburton revealed that he found out he will captain the Lions while sitting in a supermarket car park last week.

As the supermarket cashier likes to chat about rugby and Warburton didn't want to field any questions about the Lions, he chose to stay in his car rather than go in with his wife.

I found out last Thursday. I was just in the supermarket car park, my wife was getting some bread and milk. I didn’t want to go in because the cashier loves rugby, I didn’t want to answer any questions about the Lions.

Initially, Warburton did not pick the call from Warren Gatland as he thought it was a prank call from his Cardiff Blues teammates.

I think I hung up on Gats first time as I thought it was one of the boys from the Blues messing around. I’ve had it every day for the last three weeks, the boys constantly asking me, but I genuinely didn’t know.
