Not many people gave Scotland a hope. Shane Jennings certainly didn't, but boy didn't they show up? Scotland were inches from a semi-final, only to have it cut away from them from Bernard Foley's last minute kick.

Did anyone see this coming?

Well yes actually. BBC commentator and Guardian writer Eddie Butler made a Nostradamus like prediction for that game:

Scotland will rise to the occasion and threaten the biggest upset since Japan’s very recent one … and Australia will rally and pinch it late in the game. Australia by three points (37-34).

That the score was 35-34 to Australia, and Bernard Foley missed three conversions shows how close Butler was winning the lottery.
