The Ospreys have become one of the latest Pro14 teams to make the journey to South Africa.

Like Leinster did two weeks ago, the Welsh side have had to cope with issues unique to their new surrounds. The team lost 44-25 to the Cheetahs. Hooker Scott Baldwin was a notable absentee from the side for the game.

After the defeat, the Ospreys released a statement saying the Wales international was absent due to a 'lion bite'.

Ospreys Rugby can confirm that Scott Baldwin sustained a hand injury on Wednesday.

The team doctor treated a laceration and, subsequently, he was admitted to a local hospital in Bloemfontein on Thursday evening for further treatment to prevent infection.

He will be released on Saturday morning to travel home with the rest of the squad as planned.

Speaking after the match, Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy called Balwin's actions as "pretty stupid".

I don't know what sort of wildlife programs Scott has been watching where you can pat a Lion on the head as if it's a kitten. That's probably the silliest thing I've been involved in.

It looks like the teething problems are continuing off the field in South Africa, as the Pro14 continues its expansion.
