After the recent misery surrounding their team, England hit a new low this afternoon when they lost 30-22 to Fiji at Twickenham.

When this fixture was arranged, it probably would have been viewed as an opportunity for the home team to get a win and a nice sendoff from their home fans ahead of the World Cup next month. As it turned out, the reality was far different.

Fiji were excellent on the day, although they were certainly helped by some very poor play from the opposition. They scored a few excellent tries and would ultimately run out as fairly comfortable winners.

This was the latest in a long string of poor results for England, who were also on the end of a convincing defeat in Dublin last weekend.

Despite being only nine games into his tenure, some are already questioning the future of head coach Steve Borthwick.

Of course, quite a few in this country will be enjoying the steep decline of this England team. Ireland have had quite a few run-ins with the over the years and it is interesting to see how the two sides have gone in very different directions in recent times.

Some may call it petty, but seeing the English go through some struggles on the pitch will always bring a smile to the face of many Irish people. Simon Zebo is certainly enjoying it.

Speaking on RTÉ, the Munster man couldn't help but crack a smile and hint that he was very pleased to see them lose to Fiji earlier today.

It's obviously a shock result, especially for the English.

I think if you're a team struggling for confidence, the one team you don't want to play is Fiji. The atheltes they have across their team, their back play was incredible. Even in tough conditions they were able to exploit the space on the outside and cause England huge problems.

You could tell they're a side struggling with confidence. But yeah, it was a very good result. There are a few happy faces around.

Zebo also seemed to enjoy the post-match discussion surrounding England's rather strange celebrations against Ireland last week.

Also speaking on the punditry panel, Jamie Heaslip said that it was clear that Steve Borthwick had employed a game plan that was not suitable to the players at his disposal.

I think they were going backwards anyway under Eddie [Jones]. I don't think they are playing to the strengths of the players they have in that league. I think they're trying to force a game that doesn't quite those players.

You've got the coach that you've got, he's trying to force this game on those players. He has brought back some players that.

Personally, I think he would have had more chance with the short time he has had to say 'we are building for the next World Cup' and bleed players through and give them experience, bring in players that suit his system as such.

You can't do it now. [Argentina] are licking their lips.

England will open their World Cup campaign against Argentina on September 9th, a fixture that is looking like an increasingly tricky prospect.

While they are on the favourable side of the draw, there is every chance that their time in France for the tournament could be a short one.
